Here are some great at home learning activities!
- Teach your child how to tell time on an analog clock (There are many students that still do not know how to do this!).
- If you are cooking and/or baking, take this opportunity to demonstrate how fractions and ratios are used in everyday life. ie. How much flour would you need for this recipe if we doubled it? Tripled it? etc.
- Practice basic math facts - Multiplication and Division.
- Research some different types of mental math strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. There are lots of different strategies to find!
- Learn how to sign your name and perfect your signature. Many students do not know how to cursive write even just to sign their name to a document.
- Watch a movie together and discuss/critique the movie. This could be done orally or in written form.
- Write a letter to a family member or friend (great time to practice cursive writing).
- Get outside! Make sure to get some fresh air and take a break from video games and screens each day!
These are just a few ideas of things that students can be doing. There are tons of educational websites online with great resources. A quick google search will help you find what you are looking for.
